Levels of Longevity Map Kathryn explores
Kathryn Koh is one of 100+ experts in the Live Beyond Project — a father & son quest for longevity.
Discover Live Beyond →Kathryn Koh works in aesthetic medicine and skin health in Kuala Lumpur, where Marek and Aleksander spent a day filming inside her clinic — consultation, then a modern laser skin treatment.
On the Longevity Map she sits in the Biohacking Upgrades level, in the branch Marek calls “beauty-span”. It’s a part of longevity that’s easy to dismiss as vanity — and easy to get wrong. As Marek came to understand on the quest, the skin isn’t just about looks: it’s the shield of every organ we have, a living mirror of inflammation, immune status and cellular health. He admits he underestimated it for years.
Kathryn’s world — careful, clinical skin care, done well — is where the science of the skin meets the everyday practice of looking after it. It’s a reminder that the same principle runs through the whole Map: take care of the body you live in.
We visited a beauty clinic in Kuala Lumpur and filmed a series of skin procedures — laser, skincare, the works. I used to think skin was mostly about beauty. On the quest I understood it’s the shield of all our organs, and that I hadn’t taken care of mine enough. Kathryn’s the doctor who showed us that side of longevity.
“The skin is the shield of all our organs — I didn’t take care of it enough, and now I’m changing that.”
— Kathryn Koh, Kuala Lumpur
“I underestimated the importance of skin. I thought it was more for beauty — and actually it’s the shield of all our organs.”
Kathryn Koh · Marek Piotrowski, on what the quest taught him about skin · Kuala LumpurThe skin is the body’s largest organ — and a living mirror of what’s happening inside: inflammation, immune status, cellular health.
Kathryn KohBeauty-span isn’t vanity. Done well, caring for your skin is caring for the barrier that protects everything underneath.
Kathryn KohA short note on beauty-span — where skin care meets longevity, and why the skin earns its place on the Map.
Skin is the biggest organ in the body and its first line of defence — against sun, pollution, pathogens and water loss. It also shows, on the surface, what’s happening underneath: inflammation, immune status, the pace of ageing. Care for it and you’re protecting everything it covers.
“It’s the shield of all our organs.”
Kuala Lumpur · from the interviewModern aesthetic medicine — lasers, targeted skincare, professional protocols — can support skin health rather than just chase appearance. The point isn’t to look artificial; it’s to keep the barrier strong and healthy for as long as possible. That’s beauty-span: the healthy-lifespan of your skin.
“Support the skin, not just the surface.”
Kuala Lumpur · from the interviewMarek is candid that he underestimated skin for most of his life — filing it under vanity. Meeting practitioners like Kathryn on the quest changed that. It’s one more branch of a single idea: the body is a temple, and every organ — including the one you can see — deserves care.
“I didn’t take care of it enough. Now I’m changing that.”

Kathryn Koh was filmed at her beauty clinic in Kuala Lumpur in 2024 — a consultation and a laser skin treatment. The theme of the visit, in Marek’s words:
Marek Piotrowski“I underestimated the importance of skin. I just thought it’s more for beauty — and actually I understood that this is the shield of all our organs, and we really need to take care of it.”
Marek Piotrowski“On the Map this is the beauty-span branch — caring for the skin as an organ, not a surface. It’s a part of longevity that’s easy to dismiss, and easy to get wrong. Done well, it’s just another way of looking after the body you live in.”
Marek Piotrowski“We visited a beauty clinic in Kuala Lumpur and did a series of procedures — massage, laser for the skin, and more. Kathryn walked us through what the treatments do and why.”
