The small print, in plain words
The short version: this site sets no cookies, runs no analytics and carries no advertising. The only personal information it ever holds is what you type into a form yourself — and you can have it removed by asking.

Nothing that identifies you. Specifically:
What does happen, as it does on every website in the world, is that our hosting provider records the ordinary technical detail needed to serve a page and to keep the site standing up: the address requested, the time, your IP address, and the browser you used. Those logs are handled by Netlify, are kept for a short period, and are not linked by us to any person.
Two forms exist on this site, and both work the same way: nothing is sent anywhere until you press the button yourself.
Joining the Founding Circle. We ask for your email address, and, where the form offers it, your first name and your city. Your email address is passed to our newsletter provider, which sends you a message asking you to confirm that you meant it. If you do not confirm, you are never added to the list and you never hear from us again. Alongside your address we store which page you signed up from, the language you were reading in, and the wording of the consent you agreed to — so that we can always show what you were actually told.
Writing to us. The contact form carries your message, your email address, and whichever subjects you ticked, so that a person can read it and reply. Writing to us does not add you to any mailing list. There is a separate box on that form if you also want to join, it is yours to tick or leave alone, and if you leave it alone your message is read and nothing else happens.
As few companies as we could manage. Each one is a processor acting on our instructions, not a party we sell or rent anything to. We have never sold personal data and will not.
These providers operate in the United States as well as in Europe, so your information may be handled outside the European Economic Area. Where it is, the transfer rests on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
A few pages carry an embedded video hosted by YouTube. YouTube is Google's, and playing a video there tells Google that you did. We use YouTube's privacy-enhanced player, which does not store anything about you until you press play. If you would rather not be counted, do not press play.
Under the General Data Protection Regulation you may ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, ask us to stop using it, or ask for it in a portable form. You may withdraw your consent at any time. None of this costs anything and none of it needs a reason.
Every letter we send carries an unsubscribe link at the foot — one press and it is done, no questions and no reply needed.
For anything else, use the contact form and say what you would like us to do. We answer within 30 days, and usually a great deal sooner.
If you think we have handled your information badly, you are entitled to complain to a supervisory authority. Ours is the Estonian Data Protection Inspectorate, Andmekaitse Inspektsioon. You may also complain to the authority in the country where you live.
The Hub is written for adults and we do not knowingly collect anything from a child under 16. If you believe a child has signed up, write to us through the contact form and we will remove the record.
We do not ask you for health information, and no form on this site has a field for any. Nothing on the Hub is medical advice, and nothing here is a diagnosis or a prescription — it is an account of what we learned on a quest, and a set of questions worth taking to a doctor of your own.
If a future part of the Hub ever does hold health information — the app, or anything built on top of it — it will ask you separately and explicitly, and this notice will be rewritten before it does. Health information is a special category under the GDPR and it will be treated as one.
When we change how any of this works, we change this page first and date it. If a change matters to somebody already on the list, we say so in a letter rather than hoping the page is read.
